Make a sound box – build a sound wall
All materials have a sound....a beautiful, exciting, surprising, scary, boring, ugly or happy sound. In fact, we can often recognize a material by its sound. So how about exploring the sound of materials?
When we build a sound wall together, we all start by making our own sound box: A brown cardboard box with something inside, – it can be garbage, natural materials or fun things that have been thrown away. Each box has its own sound, because only one kind of material is used in each box. But when all the boxes are put together, together we create a symphony of different sounds. Like the different colors of the paint can that are put together, but not mixed together from the start.
When the box is finished, you can choose a character for your particular sound. Is it crunchy, crackling, soft, shrill, light, dark, short, long.... And what does it look like? When the entire wall is ready, you can play together, creating your very own soundscape.
The workshop is hosted by Musical anthropologist Eva Fock.
