Arstidir

Árstíðir is a lively and colourful music theatre piece by composer Elín Gunnlaugsdóttir. The work is written for a singer, flute and piano and based on the playful and witty poems Árstíðir / The Seasons by Þórarinn Eldjárn.

The piece features five poems that are both sung and performed, linked together by short narratives passages. Þórarinn’s poems capture the changing moods of the seasons with charm and humor and simple props are used to bring their imagery to life. The singer guides the journey as both storyteller and performer while the musicians take an active part in the narrative with their expressive, playful music-making.

The work premiered in 2019 at a concert dedicated to Þórarinn Eldjárn at Hof in Akureyri.
