Can you visualize music as swirling lines or pointed dots? Can you look at patterns and shapes and imagine the associated sounds? Quebec’s E27 musiques nouvelles will have you looking at music from a whole new perspective!
NOMAD is a recurring artistic project at BIG BANG Festivals around the world and here at the NAC. The concept? A simple yet extraordinary encounter between professional artists and local children.
For this year’s festival, Benoit Fortier and Gabrielle Bouthillier invite a group of local grade 5 and 6 students from the Foul’Arts program at École élémentaire catholique Jean-Robert-Gauthier to dive into a world of colours, shapes and sounds. The students will discover how a musical idea can be transformed into an image and how a drawing can, in turn, inspire a sound creation. That’s where the magic begins! Over the course of a week, the students create an original work, both visual and sound-based, that carries a poetry that is uniquely their own.
Join us as the group unveils their vibrant creation, where music and drawings intertwine!
