Amalaya brings Colombian Bailes Cantaos to the Low Countries. This ensemble was born out of travel, encounters and a deep desire to share musical memories.
With traditional pieces and original compositions inspired by the rhythms of Tambora and Bullerengue – typical musical forms of the Caribbean coast – this sextet celebrates Afro-Colombian culture with infectious passion.
On stage, melodic and rhythmic beats alternate with polyphonic call-and-response singing. The skins of traditional instruments such as the llamador, tambora and alegre make the venue vibrate: an invitation to listen, move and be swept away in a joyful, captivating trance. Amalaya is more than just a concert; it is a celebration that brings the musical soul of Colombia straight to your heart.
