A kaleidoscope of songs and grooves from the Balkans
Somewhere in Ghent’s Bloemekenswijk neighbourhood, something is beginning to stir. Children are learning songs that have been passed down through the generations: songs from the Balkans, sung by people who have found a new home here.
Together with the Ledebirds, led by Mattias Laga, and the Bulgarian guest artist Vili Pilafova as guide and bridge-builder, these songs grow into something bigger: a procession, an encounter, a movement through the city.
This new NOMAD project brings music to where it belongs: right at the heart of the community. Singing, music and movement come together in a participatory journey that connects children with a living repertoire and with the professional musicians who bring it to life. Only to be discovered at the BIG BANG Festival!
