In a world where voices multiply and bodies defy gravity, a new space emerges. A space between sound and movement. Between past and present.
Rompeltier is an ode to polyphony, but the troubadours of the Middle Ages are not far away either. An ode to the wonder of multiple sound voices that sound, clash, coincide simultaneously. Like an imaginary companion, the spirit of Jacob Obrecht weaves through the performance. His music - born from the silence of the Renaissance - is the beating heart of this modern choreography in the air.
Musicians Thomas Baeté and Raphaël De Cock blend the layeredness of Obrecht's compositions with the refreshing acrobatics of Thomas Decaesstecker. Music becomes movement. Tension becomes sound.
A place where renaissance and circus meet. Where voices speak without words and bodies sing without voice.
