In the footsteps of the high priestess of soul
Nina Simone was an incredibly talented pianist and singer, with a voice like no other. Sometimes soft and fragile, at other times powerful and combative – but always full of emotion. With hits such as My Baby Just Cares for Me and Feeling Good, she managed to enchant the world. But equally, Mississippi Goddam, To Be Young, Gifted, And Black and I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free showed that music can also be a way to denounce injustice.
Her career had its highs and lows. So did her personal life. In this short and intimate performance, three top female musicians bring this turbulent journey to life for young ears. Expect a mix of jazz, soul, blues and certainly some of Nina’s best-known songs.
